Happy Friday friends! We made it! Over the past few weeks I have been focusing on my health and wellness. I have seen all my doctors, committed to a new exercise regimen, and revamped my diet. I am feeling more energized than ever and am motivated to make lifelong changes that will benefit my mind and body long term. I’ve been spending extra time with loved ones and am looking forward to Jenna’s visit to the west coast in just a few short weeks. In the meantime, I have a busy weekend ahead filled with coffee and dinner dates, a photo shoot, and a brunch with two of my best girl friends. And the icing on this proverbial cake? It is set to rain all weekend long – a treasured rarity in Southern California. I hope that your weekends are safe and filled with laughter and play. Keep reading to check out some of my favorite findings from around the web with this week’s edition of Friday Link Love.

Happy Chinese New Year!

Fireworks glittering over the Hudson River in NYC to celebrate the Chinese New Year!

Hello Everyone! Apologies for the infrequent posting schedule lately…the three of us have been extremely busy and all over the globe this past month (we’re talking India, Myanmar, DC, Paris, Florida). Although it has made it a bit difficult for us to post on the regular this month, we promise that this brief hiatus and all of our travels will amount to really amazing future posts for you all to enjoy! As a teaser…here is a little glimpse into my world lately! Bon Weekend!

Paris Rooftops

The view from my balcony during my most recent trip to Paris…a place where even the rooftops are photogenic.

It's Cold. Do Yoga.

New York has been bitterly cold lately, so I have been warming up with yoga. This sign says it all!

To kick-off fashion week in New York I attended a creative leader discussion with Caroline de Maigret at the FIAF. The model, style icon, music producer, and author of the bestselling How to Be Parisian Wherever You Are was impossibly chic and shared stories on life, love, feminism and her obsession with Elvis!

DC Royal

I fell in love with this emerald room at the Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium during a recent trip to Washington, DC.. I am now seriously considering re-painting my living room…

Brooklyn based caterer, Poppy’s Catering + Events hosted an adorable pop up cafe near my apartment on Valentine’s Day! I stopped in early that morning to treat myself to coffee, a cardamom bun and a gorgeous flower arrangement from Fox Fodder Farm.

Green Smoothies are my favorite!

I have been making myself a green breakfast smoothie every morning and it has been such a great way to start the day! They are absolutely delicious and I feel such a difference in my energy levels. I simply mix spinach, frozen mango, avocado, almond milk and a banana in a blender and voila! Sometimes I add chia seeds for an extra fiber and protein boost!

Winter Equestrian Festival

Yesterday I flew to Florida to scope out an event site at the Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington. I loved watching the jumping competitions and it was quite a treat being in the sun for a day!

Outfit: Sweater Weather

Sweater Weather - Videndae

How much do I love wearing a warm, cozy sweater on a cold winters day? Even more than I love sipping cold, salted margaritas, which is a lot! Pair that sweater with leather leggings (faux in my case) and you can quickly make cozy look effortlessly classic and chic. This is my go-to winter outfit for weekend brunch with friends that can easily transition from day to night!

Outfit details: Hermes Sweater (similar, or similar), M Missoni Faux Leather Leggings (similar, or similar), Hermes Booties (similar, or similar), Rhie Coat (similar), Celine Trio Bag, Catbird Rings, Nailpolish: Essie Wicked.

DIY Cupid’s Arrow Valentine

diy valentine

By now it’s no secret that I love a holiday and Valentine’s day is no exception. Over the years, I have continued the childhood tradition of delivering homemade valentine’s to my closest friends. I enjoy any excuse to remind my loved ones that they are adored and Lord knows I jump at an opportunity to craft. This year, I was inspired by cupid’s arrow and decided to create a DIY Cupid’s arrow valentine to accompany treat bags full of homemade, heart-shaped sugar cookies using Jenna’s Christmas cookie recipe. The result – adorable!

You will need:
Card stock in various colors and textures
Gold sharpie
2 yards of Gold elastic cord
Wooden Craft Sticks
Hot glue gun
Hot glue sticks
Scissors

Steps:
1. Cut out 2 arrow tips (about 3 inches tall) and 2 feathers per arrow (about 6 inches and 4 inches long) on colored card stock.
4. Cut fringe on feathers.
5. Mark feathers with desired designs using your gold sharpie (optional).
6. Using your hot glue gun, secure arrow tips to wooden stick. Glue one triangle to the front of the stick and the other to the back so that the stick is covered by the paper triangles.
7. Fold feathers slightly lengthwise.
8. Add a small amount of glue to the crease at the bottom of the largest feather and lay the end of the wooden stick on glue to secure.
9. Add a small amount of glue to the back of the smaller feather and place on top of the wooden stick, layering the feathers and staggering them slightly in different directions.
10. Once the glue has dried, place a small amount of glue on the back of the wooden stick, directly below the large feather. Carefully lay the end of the gold cord on the glue, pressing down to secure.
11. When the glue has dried and cooled, begin to wrap the cord around the wooden stick several times.
12. Place a small amount of hot glue on the back of the wooden stick to secure the gold cord and use scissors to cut off the excess.

Three Winter Escapes

Can you believe it’s February already?  If you’re anything like me, the holidays feel like they were a lifetime ago, the winter is long, and we are in need of a vacation.   We’ve dreamed up three long-weekend escapes for you to add to your book of travel!

For the Intermediate Skier / Expert Aprés-Skier

Adara

GO: Whistler, Canada

STAY: Adara Hotel, a boutique accommodation at the center of the Whistler ski village.  Enjoy the comforts of an Alpine lodge with the urban appeal of a modern loft apartment starting from $117 per night.  Rent a car – Whistler village is approximately a 2 hour drive from Vancouver International Airport (YVR).

DO: Ski Whistler and Blackcomb, take a refresher lesson with a local expert, enjoy excellent meals, fireside chats, and relax with plenty of aprés-skiing.

For the Sun Worshipper

934758-coqui-coqui-tulum-hotel-tulum-mexico

GO: Tulum, Mexico

STAY: Coqui Coqui Tulum.  A place inspired by tropical aromas and built by a couple of super chic perfumers, Coqui Coqui combines rusticity & relaxation with great style.  Resort is also eco-friendly and run partly with solar power.  Rent a car and drive the 1.5 hours south from Cancun (CUN).  Rooms starting from $240.

DO: Rest on the beach, visit nearby ancient town of Valladolid, spend a day at the UNESCO World Heritage site Sian Ka’an Biosphere reserve, go cave diving in the nearby cenotes, add a new perfume to your collection.

For the Adventurer

GreatHouse

GO: The island of Vieques, Puerto Rico (a territory of the U.S.A.)

STAY: The W Hotel Vieques. While this is a large, name-brand resort, the details give it a unique feel.  Once a military base for the US Navy’s training exercises, Vieques island is now a nature reserve and is largely under-developed. Fly into San Juan, Puerto Rico (SJU) then take a small jumper plane over to the island (VQS).

DO: Stay up late on a moonless night and boat to the middle of the bioluminescent bay.  Here, millions of micro-organisms illuminate fish and stingray as they glide through the water in a ghostly, sparkling display of nature.   Rent an open-air jeep and explore the hidden beaches and local food stands.  Take up yoga.
