Nothing says effortless style like a crisp, menswear-inspired shirtdress. Extremely versatile, it can be worn alone, belted, layered with bold accessories, dressed up or even worn as a beach cover up. There are so many different styles out there to choose from, so finding the right one for You is key. We are loving all eight of these variations – any of which would be a perfect addition to your summer wardrobe!
After many years of buying cheap, novelty jewelry that turned my skin green and disintegrated after 3-4 wears, I decided I wanted to start taking my jewelry collection seriously! Soon after I graduated college and got a job in the real world, I began saving my money and investing in classic, essential jewelry pieces that I knew would never go out of style. Not only did I want to get more use out of my jewelry collection, I wanted to be able to pass down treasured keepsakes to my future children one day – just as my mother had passed down her diamond studs to me!
To get started on my jewelry collection overhaul, I first took an inventory of everything I already had and donated all of my inexpensive or dated pieces I didn’t like, or hadn’t worn in over a year. Then I made a list of all the items I felt were essential to my future collection and began acquiring them slowly but surely. I am still working towards my ideal collection of classic jewelry and one day I hope it will include all of the following essential items:

There is nothing like a red lip to transform your look and make a bold statement with minimal effort. Classic, elegant and cool, this is one fashion accessory every girl should have in their back pocket!
If you are looking to rock a red lip for the first time, or are hunting for something new, finding the right shade of red for your skin tone is always key! I recommend heading to a Sephora or a department store beauty counter and spending some time trying on different colors to find the most complementary red for you. Whether the red undertones that suit you are coral, bluish, brick, orange or cherry red, there are many beautiful shades out there to choose from!
Personally, I tend to gravitate towards reds with bluish undertones, or true, true reds! Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencils are my personal favorite. They come in every color imaginable, they are creamy in texture and leave me with a rich, matte look all day long! To help you find the right red for YOU, here are my favorite lipsticks that I have in constant rotation (clockwise from top left):
1. Mac – Retro Matte Lipstick in Ruby Woo
2. Sephora – Cream Lip Stain in #1 Always Red
3. Make Up Forever – Rouge Artist Intense in #43 Moulin Rouge
4. Nars – Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Cruella
5. Nars – Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Mysterious Red
6. Kat Von D – Studded Kiss Lipstick in Underage Red
7. Dior – Voluptuous Care Couture Color in #743 Rouge Zinnia
8. Tom Ford – Lip Color in #28 Rouge Fatal
We would love to hear your recommendations too! If you don’t see your favorite listed, please tell us about it in the comments section below!
My Diptyque devotion has reached new heights. Walking around London this week, I was seduced into the entrance of the boutique, dark and smelling of incense and flowers. I discovered the brand’s latest campaign, 34 Collection, which celebrates the store’s beginnings at 34 Boulevard Saint Germain in Paris. The iconic first boutique was filled with not only candles and perfumes but eclectic, refined objects that “manifested a certain lifestyle.” How Videndae of them.
According to Diptyque, the 34 Collection is a “beautiful way to rediscover the rare and romantic spirit of the ‘bazaar’ that permeated the boutique.” The colors of the bazaar items are black, white and gold mixed with natural materials like marble, cement, metal and clay. My dream palette. There is even a paperie accompaniment with beautiful graphic designs by Papier Tigre.
Immediately I was drawn to le Redouté, its votive made of hand-mixed black and white clay resembling the smoke of a snuffed candle. Its top notes are clove, a little cinnamon and orange (apropos of the season!). Beneath that you can smell roses, cedar and amber. She came home with me.
Try as I might, I have never found a candle that burns as clean, smells as complex and true, or is as beautifully packaged as Diptyque’s. I like to give them as gifts, and I always have one lit at home. I keep the votives and repurpose them in myriad ways. Several friends have told me how they scoffed at the price at first (I agree they are expensive at £40 ea), but after owning one and experiencing the transformative properties of this particular candle, they understand its worth – they get it. And now we are spoilt for all else.
My top candles include Baies (bright roses), Feu de Bois (wintry fireplace), Figuier (earthy green fig), Opopanax (powdery myrrhe), Feuille de Lavande (clean / kitchen), Eucalyptus (refreshing / office), and now le Redouté (spice / holiday). Since memories are linked with scent, I look forward to remembering the first autumn I spent in London, my home steeped in clove and incense and amber.
Jenna and I will be turning 30-years-old on September 21st and 22nd respectively. Celebrating our birthdays together has become one of my favorite traditions over the years, and now I simply cannot imagine spending it any other way. To mark our entrée into our thirties with style, we will be jetting off to London to visit Brooke and her husband for a long weekend. The idea of sitting stationary for eleven plus hours on a plane seems daunting, but knowing that an amazing adventure with my closest girls awaits overseas, thrills me to no end. Here are some of the Videndaessentials I’ll be packing in my carry on for the long haul to London – broken down into three categories: technology, beauty, and most importantly – comfort and relaxation. What are your essential carry on items?
1/ Fujifilm Instax Mini – I keep this bad boy with me at all times. You never know when a moment worthy of a Instax pic will strike.
2/ Dodocase for iPad – The Dodocase protects my iPad and makes it look way cuter.
3/ iPad – On long flights, I download a few movies on my iPad. It is lighter than my laptop and takes up less space.
4/ MacBook Pro – I tend to keep my laptop stowed away for the majority of any given flight, but I will use it occasionally to respond to work emails.
5/ Skullcandy Roc Nation Aviator Headphones – Nothing makes me feel cooler than these headphones.
6/ Power Mate Plus Portable Backup Battery for iPad – I make sure to charge my electronics to the max before traveling, but I keep this portable battery on hand, just in case.
1/ Marvis Classic Strong Mint Travel Toothpaste – This is the same toothpaste I use at home. I am obsessed with the packaging but more importantly, it tastes amazing.
2/ Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs and Rosewater – This light facial spray is refreshing and smells amazing, especially after I wake up.
3/ Diptyque Soothing Lip Balm – I apply this balm to my lips before and during every flight. Like all Diptyque products, it smells incredible.
4/ Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray – I lightly spray Oribe at the roots of my hair to give it some body after a long flight.
5/ Egyptian Magic Cream Travel Size – My skin has a tendency to feel very dry after a long flight. I slather Egyptian Magic Cream on my face and body a few times in the air and it works like, well, magic.
6/ Rohto Cool Eye Drops – I always wear my glasses on flights because my eyes get very dry at cruising altitude. Rohto Cool Eye Drops offers sweet relief from dry, itchy eyes.
Comfort and Relaxation:
1/ J.Crew Weekend Skinny Sweatpant – I usually opt for looser fitting, comfortable, yet cute pants for any long flight. For London I bought these sweatpants that I will be wearing with a Madewell button up Chambray shirt and converse sneakers.
2/ Sabon Lavender Body Oil – To help me relax, I put a dab of lavender oil on my temples. It is calming, subtle and helps me ease into a deep sleep.
3/ The Portable Sixties Reader – I picked up this book for the flight. Reading always helps me to relax my mind and shake off any anxiety.
4/ Hermes 140 cm Cashmere and Silk Blend Scarf – Jenna introduced me to these Hermes scarves. They are so soft and chic and double as an amazing blanket to guard from the chilly in-flight air.
5/ J.Crew Women’s Camp Socks – My toes turn to ice cubes on long flights so I picked up these cozy J.Crew socks for the journey overseas.
6/ Banjo & Matilda Silk-Cashmere Travel Pillow and Eye Mask Set (Similar) – I plan to sleep most of the way to London and this matching travel pillow and eye mask set makes me feel like I’m resting on a fluffy cloud.
The moment I begin sensing autumn in the late August air, my mind ignores the 80 degree temps and begins dreaming of chunky knits and cashmere shawls. Don’t get me wrong…I love warm weather, but when it comes to investing in new clothing I tend to gravitate towards long sleeves, leather jackets, and boots, no matter what the season.
So with fall right around the corner, I couldn’t wait to update my wardrobe with a few autumn/winter staples I have been coveting this season. Starting off with the basics, I recently purchased two pairs of Frame Denim: one pair of Le Skinny De Jeanne (a classic skinny jean) and one pair of Le Garcon (more of a relaxed fit).
As a person who is constantly searching for the perfect skinny jean, the Frame Le Skinny de Jeanne is the closest I’ve found. They are extremely flattering, comfortable, and have the ideal amount of stretch. With a perfectly narrow 10.5″ leg opening, Le Skinny also has the versatility to be cuffed or rolled. I wear mine to work with an Equipment Silk Blouse and a pair of Rag & Bone booties for a simple, classic look.
Frame’s Le Garcon is an entirely different fit, but this pair is equally as comfortable and flattering. Soft, slouchy and laid-back, I have deemed these my go-to weekend jeans! In between a boyfriend cut and a slim fit, Le Garcon achieves an effortless cool style (without ever looking overly baggy) that can easily be taken from day to night. I especially love the gently faded Berkeley Square wash.
Given that both pairs of jeans fit me perfectly on the first try, I can honestly say that Frame is my new favorite brand of denim and is an essential for every closet! Can’t decide which style is for you? Get inspired by their gorgeous FW 14 campaign and pick up a pair (or two) at any of these stockists.

I am officially in love with my new Mansur Gavriel tote, and it’s a profound, passionate, heart-stopping, can’t-live-without-each-other love. I have been looking for the perfect black leather tote for years and I can say, without hesitation, that this is it.
On a surprisingly warm and sunny Saturday afternoon amidst the dismal winter weather we have been having in New York, I was eager to remedy my spring fever with some much-needed retail therapy.
Steven Alan happened to be one of my first stops and it’s where I ended up finding my soul tote. I swear it beckoned me from across the room and when given the choice between the cammello brown with rose interior and the black with royal blue lining, I couldn’t help myself. The minimalist black tote was coming home with me.
With its beautifully structured shape, clean lines, smooth, vegetable-tanned leather, and discrete gold-embossed label (not to mention its extremely reasonable price tag) I was shocked that they even had them in stock! Since every girl in New York is trying to get her hands on one, I couldn’t believe my good fortune. Sunshine AND the coveted, quintessential tote all in one day? Playing the lottery crossed my mind.
This young, New-York based brand was founded in 2012 by Rachel Mansur and Floriana Gavriel, two girls who shared similar backgrounds and the exact same dream. In a world full of handbags adorned with clasps, buckles, chains, charms, zippers, and fringe, this brand pairs it down and makes a selection of discreet, understated and classic bags with fun pop colors. Whether your style is reflected in their large or small tote, their bucket bag or their large wallet, these are all accessories that you will carry with you for years to come!
To purchase your very own Mansur Gavriel, you can try visiting any of these retailers listed on the Mansur Gavriel website. They are also launching an online retail boutique this summer, so be sure to follow their tumblr feed for news on that! Until then, Fashionista.com has also featured this helpful resource guide for getting your hands on one. Bonne chance!
